In Memory of Janet Lucille Brown

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Janet Lucille Brown who died peacefully at home, January 26, 2023. Janet was born January 31st, in New York City to Mary and Francis Daugherty. She is survived by her son Paul (Ingrid), daughter Michele (Jamie), son Mark (Susan), daughter Noreen (Bill), 8 grandchildren (Theresa, Hailey, Steven, Scott, Nicole, Matthew, Quinn and Alexa) as well as numerous relatives throughout BC and the US. Janet was predeceased by her husband John, sister Noreen and brother Thomas.

Janet was fortunate to have lived in several cities including New York City, NY; Beaumont, Texas; London, ENG; Long Beach CA; San Francisco, CA and Vancouver BC. She always remembered her time in Long Beach, CA very fondly, staying in touch with childhood friends throughout her life.

Janet met John at UBC. She eventually moved back to California and finished her teaching degree at San Jose State University. The years that followed included many trips for John from Vancouver to San Francisco, where their relationship grew. They were married in 1963 at Saint Dunstan’s Church in Milbrae, CA after which Janet made Canada her home.

Janet was an avid volunteer including several board positions with Providence Health Care, University Women’s Club, Vancouver College, the Vancouver Museum and the Catholic Health Alliance of Canada to name a few. She'll be remembered for her infectious sense of humour and the energy she brought as a loving friend, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Home-ViVE and Pacific Spirit Community Health Care who provided compassionate and loving care throughout her final days. We’d also like to thank Home Instead Senior Care, Flor Garbo and Pam Perez who lovingly supported and cared for her.
